On March 2018 Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer that can target various parts of the body. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 28th April 2020, where he was undergoing treatment for colon infection. He died the next day on 29th April due to colon infection at the age of 53.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday expressed shock over the sudden death of Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who had been hospitalised in Mumbai for a few days.

“Shocked to hear of the demise of Irrfan Khan, one of the most exceptional actors of our time. May his work always be remembered and his soul rest in peace,” tweeted the Delhi CM.
